Everything you need to know about the Cinderella Pantomime Review New Wimbledon 2023, Starring Craig Revel Horwood
“This year’s Cinderella pantomime delivers an enchanting spectacle. From the dazzling costumes to the captivating performances, it’s a delightful treat for all ages. With a seamless blend of humor and heartwarming moments, this production beautifully brings to life the timeless tale of Cinderella, leaving the audience spellbound and thoroughly entertained.
My Review on Cinderella at the New Wimbledon Theatre
Upon entering the auditorium, the glimmering shoes lighting up the ceiling and the sparkling Cinderella backdrop set the magical tone. The cast, featuring a delightful mix of characters, added to the excitement, especially with Craig Revel Horwood’s arrival accompanied by the theme tune from Strictly Come Dancing, instantly setting a playful mood.
Buttons’ flawless and funny execution of endless magic tricks between scenes were extremely clever and kept all of the kids entertained. I personally loved the comical spat between Buttons, Prince Charming and Cinderella falling over the wall which had us in stitches.
With dancing pumpkins and dancing polar bears tapping away with added flashes of pyrotechnics, this pantomime had all the essential elements. It struck the right balance of slapstick humor and clever comments, suitable for both children and adults, bringing laughter and smiles.
For me the Stand out performances were from the Baroness and Buttons. Notably, Baroness Demonca Hardup’s dance-off with Buttons, featuring the Merengue and Macarena, had the audience in laughter even throughout the interval.
The performance also featured numerous magical moments. While there is no actual transformation scene in the Hardup hall kitchen with the pumpkins changing to a coach you are taken aback with the most amazing follow on scene. The coach arrives driven by buttons and it literally glides above the audience like the Delorean in Back to the Future. So with flying horses and a floating carriage, finishing in a breathtaking snowfall it is truly an ideal Christmas pantomime.”
